Winter/Spring Travel:
The only likely open mountain pass is Monarch Pass, which is maintained year-round but may close temporarily due to heavy snowfall.
Summer/Fall Travel:
Kebler Pass, west of Crested Butte along CO-12, offers a scenic drive through aspens. Alternatively, the less-traveled Cottonwood Pass east along CO-209 provides beautiful views if coming from the east.
Flying Options:
The closest airport is Gunnison–Crested Butte Regional Airport (GUC), though it can be pricey. More affordable options include Grand Junction Regional Airport (GJT), Colorado Springs Airport (COS), and Montrose Regional Airport (MTJ). Expect longer drives during winter and spring months due to potential road closures from snow.
